Acting classes
Advanced Scene Study with Bill Leavengood
Ages 18+
(Prerequisite: Uta Hagen and/or Sanford Meisner Class with Bill Leavengood*)
Saturdays, 1:00-3:00

*Experienced actors may request permission from instructor to take the course even if they have not had the prerequisite courses
Class One: Scene Partners will be selected and assigned scenes. We will discuss best practices and methods of rehearsing (based on guidelines from Hagen, Meisner and Leavengood). We will review Hagen and Meisner basics.
Class Two: The first hour will focus on Meisner and Hagen exercises and methods with the second hour focused on individual scene partners working on their scenes with the instructor.
Class Three: The first hour will focus on Meisner and Hagen exercises and methods with the second hour focused on individual scene partners working on their scenes with the instructor.
Class Four: We will work thru/run all scenes with feedback from instructor. We will then present a scene showcase for invited guests.

About your instructor: Bill Leavengood is a nationally-awarded, two-time Eugene O’Neill playwright, alumnus of Circle Repertory and recipient of the 2024 Best of the Bay Playwright from Creative Loafing in Tampa. He is the author of over 50 plays, screenplays and librettos for musicals which have received numerous productions regionally and in New York at Primary Stages and Circle Rep, among others. He has directed over 50 stage productions, both amateur and professional. In his other career, he has taught Theatre and Playwriting at the college, high school and professional level for 30 years.

Playwriting: Writing a Short Play
Mondays, 7:00-9:00 PM

Learn the nuts, bolts, tricks and techniques of the Playwriting craft! Through lecture, demonstration, discussion and writing exercises, writers learn how to successfully employ structure, develop three-dimensional characters, create dramatic tension and write natural dialogue. Each student will develop their own original short play.
Screenwriting classes
Dive into the world of screenwriting with expert guidance from an industry professional. These classes explore cinematic storytelling, formatting, and script development, helping you create scripts that captivate audiences. Next offering will be late spring/early summer 2026.
